Hi, Jason, welcome to the world of SAAB and this great Board!

My first Saab was a 1993 2.3 CDE with all the trimmings (but no turbo), great car and a enough boot space to put a dead horse in and still room for several shovels(long story, court case next wednesday).

Yes I am kidding :-)

Anyway, the serp belt is very important as if it lets go, as in any car, it'll leave you stuck. If it is frayed at the edges it is definately time to replace it, but frankly if you don't know the history of the car, I'd schedule time and money to do the following if you don't know the car's history:

Replace serp belt and idler pulleys (you would be well advised to replace the serp belt tensioner at the same time). idler pulleys and belt will set you back $100 ish, tensioner is about the same again.

Good that you've already done the fluids and filters (especially the gearbox fluid and filter, especially especially if it is an auto)

Replace the plugs with the factory recommended plugs, the DI casette (big oblong thingy on top of rocker box with "direct Ignition" on it, was designed to use the factory recommended plugs and any variation is bad. Also gap to the factory recommended gap too.

Aside from that, if the car sounds good, you can look forward to many trouble free and luxurious driving - enjoy!
