Unless you know for sure the belt is new, I'd replace it. I'd put it this way - look at the ribbed side - do you see ANY cracks in the rubber ribs. If there are none (like not any, not just a few), then the belt is probably pretty new. Otherwise it is of indeterminate age and therefore suspect.
The other issue, as Andy notes, is the pulleys. There are two - idler and tensioner pullys. These wear out - typically after about 75K miles, but they can go much longer.
My approach is to replace the belt every 30K, and replace the pulleys every second belt - 60K. This is pretty conservative, but that's my approach. I usually don't replace the tensioner shock unless the pulley is bouncing around a lot. Mail order from the BB sponsors is a much more cost-effective approach than the dealer.
If you really want to save money, then at least replace the belt. While the belt is off, spin the idler and tensioner pulleys. If you feel any wobble in them, or any bearing 'grit', replace them. If they feel absolutely fine, you're probably OK for the next 30K miles. Of course, with this approach, the car is either down until you decide to order the new pulleys, or you need to do the job twice. Your call.
