yes, LHM is a drag. as others posted, once in LHM several other items work (or don't) differently. No cruise, no AC, no idle (you have to drive two footed - one on the gas and one on the brake to get it to idel) and the car will try to not go into 4th, but sometimes it will. Besides the power off and restart to reset the LHM I read somewhere and did this on mine during problems, left foot brake just a *little* while driving in LHM and it would come out of LHM until you restart. It did work and helped my vocabulary too...
A couple of items I noticed on mine, don't laugh, but it seemed that things that made the engine shake (really bumpy road, those damned sections of concrete thump/thump/thump, AC on, throttle on/off/on quickly) would tend to throw it into LHM. Once I has able to get past LHM if I avoided these things it behaved longer. I got a tech-2 and diagnosed the problem and fixed it. It didn't like a wheel ABS input on the left front... who knew...
