Clarification on AMM Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: disconnected ntc sensor=68 degrees, Rick, Thu, 6 Apr 2006 19:33:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There is nothing magical about the AMM setting of 380 ohms (on those AMMs with adjustment screws).
The AMM should be adjusted so the O2 sensor swings from 0.2 to 0.9 volts at a 50% duty cycle Depending on the car year, you can find this signal on the test connector, amplified to 0 and 12 volts. The AMM adjustment takes into account AMM differences, and other engine variations. The final resistance will be different for every car.
So what's 380 ohms? Saab engineers figured out that if you set the AMM to 380 ohms, the engine will at least run. From there you can adjust it. If the engine is running, there is no need or reason to set the AMM to 380 ohms - just adjust it from there. Chances are that if the engine is running OK, it'll be a small tweak from there to get the optimal setting.
