With the tranny, look for smooth shifts. They should be firm, but not bang. Count the shifts as you accelerate - it's a four speed; make sure you get all four, and that they seem to shift at the right places. Bad govenor seals can cause the tranny to start out in 2nd gear, or to shift too soon.

My favorite is to find a nice long, steep hill. Drive up it at about 45 MPH, until it shifts into 4th. Then nail the accelerator, so it downshifts to 3rd. This should be a pretty firm shift. Look for the engine to over-rev a little, as if the tranny paused in neutral between shifts (bad thing). It should shift quickly and firmly, but shouldn't bang or slip.

The Griffen is the CD, so it comes loaded with the goodies. Make sure they all work. The other issue is that those cars came with the self-leveling Nivomat rear shocks. Work great when new. VERY expensive to replace. Many folks replace them with the standard shocks, which require different springs. So look how the car sits in the back - the car should be level, or just slightly higher in the back. Pressing down on the rear bumper (part of any shock test in any car) should be firm with limited rebound. If the back end is dragging or too high, or the rear end feels sloppy while driving, suspect that either the Nivomats are shot, or someone did a lousy retrofit. The Nivomats are easy to see - they're much fatter than standard shocks. Nothing wrong with them if they're in good shape.

Otherwise, it's a '92 turbo. It will have TCS. No judgement there, just info. So check Quasi's site for notes on checking 9000's and their weak spots - heater core, seat movement/heaters, etc.
