Glad to hear about your new glass.I just bought an Aero from Rhode Island and there was a bubble on each A post and some around the wheel wheels.Took her off the road to deal with the rust.Windshield was sand blasted from living on the coast in R.I. any way so had the glass kids from Diamond Auto glass here in Jersey come and pull out the glass and take it with them to return with a new piece after the rust is fixed. And let me tell you how much rust there is.Lots! Then we sandblasted it and it looks like swiss cheese.Albeit clean fresh metal swiss cheese. The glass that came out was not original and the gasket used was generic. The gasket got pulled off first and the windshield bead was stripped all the way around and pulled out in about 10 minutes.I think factory windshields on our 9k can not come out without breaking, can any one attest to this?
Wolf,I assume your windshield was original, correct?
There was one bead of butyl laid in first and the glass set in and then the gasket. What is the most correct way to have glass installed.Should there be an additional bead layed in and then the gasket installed?
Also I am finding out that the gasket itself should be stock Saab, not generic. The glass guy says a saab gasket costs 108.00 extra.I haven't priced it at the dealer yet but I think it is worth the extra money to seal out the water.Treating this rust problem is giving the Aero a new lease on life and beware what lurks beneath what you can't see.So get that rust treated now Wolf while its still only surface rust.
