if you're patient, and call around, you should be able to get a used tranny for several hundred. i went the scrap route after removing almost every valuable part from my 92 9000. loved the car, ran great, but for seized 5 spd. i found one for $600, but decided not to put $600 tranny plus labor into $1000 car, when i could buy another 9000 locally for $800 that was functioning just fine. so, i downsized to my remaining 93 9000 and my wife and i share car for now...
BUT, had i replaced tranny, probably could have kept on driving for many thousands of miles, lots cheaper than a new car. i've used a lot of the parts from the car, and sold a bunch to others. consider parting out car or sell to someone on saabnet for a few hundred and let them fix it.
