Should work...maybe minor problems... Posted by Daven [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: lowered springs question, Matt in sydney, Mon, 1 May 2006 18:39:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey there Matt. I have a '92 9KT with Swedish Dynamics lowered springs that drop the car 2" and make the ride pretty harsh. The other factor is that I have Bilstein shocks that are really stiff. There SHOUDLN'T be a clearance problem with your 6X16" wheels, assuming they're SAAB 16's. Sometimes it depends on the tire because I had Kumho sport tires that had a really square sidewall and a really wide tread and they rubbed all the time on my '91 9KT which was also lowered. Now I have 215/45/17's (on 7" wide rims) which have a more rounded sidewall and there are no rubbing issues.
Regarding the ease of installation...you'll need at spring compressor kit (3 threaded clamp looking hooks that you tighten around the spring to relieve it's tension and dis-assemble the front spring/shock assembly). Thats relatively easy...use a 9000 repair manual and your common sense, be careful. The rears might be hard if the nuts attaching the shocks to the trailing arm are badly rusted, in which case you'd have to cut them off. Hopefully that won't be the case.
I've heard that Eibachs aren't the harshest springs which might be a good thing depending on what you're looking for and where you live (dropping a 9KT 2" + living in an area w/ potholes = bad news!) Good luck!
