Actually I bought four NGK BCPR7ES-11 plugs today. However I have never actually changed sparkplugs in a car before. I know the general procedure is to remove the DI cassette (have the star screw driver), Then take out the plugs. Are the plugs screwed in hand tight, or do I need a specific tool for removing them/making sure they are plugged properly (its my understanding that these sparkplugs come pre-gapped to 11mm hence the 11).
Perhaps if someone can give me a better idea of what to expect when I remove the plugs I can go out and change them tonight.
I know that white plugs mean lean and dark plugs mean the engine was running rich.. Im going to guess they are dark since the cat is clogged.
I'm also not sure of the state of the air filter. Where is the filter located if I'm looking at the engine, I guess somewhere down by the intercooler on the passenger side?
The car has 138k miles on it, so it is probably better to assume alot of these parts are worn and are in need of replacement.
thanks.
