While you should do a search on the archives on the following terms:
Valve body
Accumulator spring
Governor seals
it's almost certain that if you are completely missing one or more gears, the transmission has met its maker.
Fortunately, Connecticut is home to Ericksson Industries, who were the official suppliers of rebuilt and replacement transmissions for Saab corporate when they were still headquartered in Orange. A rebuilt transmission through them should cost about $2000. Plan on another $1000 or so for installation, though you could pare that down depending on who does the work.
I wouldn't go with a used unit, just because you don't know how long it's going to last you. If you have to redo the job in six months, you'll end up spending more than if you'd simply gone with a new, warrantied one.
If you're willing to spend about $3000 for the entire process, you should have about a $4000 to $5000 car when it's done. If you decide against it, you can sell the car as is for parts, or part it out yourself, and certainly make more than $100!
