Just give the car a few starts and satisfy yourself it's gone. I think the steamy exhaust has nothing to do with jacking, just a coincidence.
The first time I did a headgasket I was beside myself as I watched my car steam away for 10-15 minutes. Just condensation.
(interesting side note: any time you do work on any engine part, don't be surprised to see smoke rising from the hot engine as oily fingerprints and spills get burned off -- in a headgasket case, that's pretty much the whole engine. My nerves eventually recovered.)
Most of my 9000s have had their steamy days. My 535 is steam city on clammy days.
