Hello everyone...

If anyone that knows me has wondered where i've been... it's a long story.

Basically, short version... I work and live on a royal caribbean cruise ship now... and I'm out to sea for 10 months of the year.

NOW...

My 1990 saab 9000 turbo lives in cold snowy new york when i'm gone. Under the best conditions i could give it. Under a breathable weather proof car cover, in my family's driveway.

They were SUPPOSED to start it every week for like 20 minutes, but didn't do it.

I came home to see it lifeless, suspended in time. Dead battery, flat tires... newly sagging headliner...

sad...

I let it sit there for weeks, not wanting to deal with it, but today i finally got the nerve to buy an insurance policy, run to the dmv, register it, and get plates...

Got a new optima redtop battery...

...and with a little starter spray, she started up.

Let her warm up for the better part of an hour, before heading to a gas station to get air for my tires...

and some fresh gas.

Apparently i didn't leave much in the tank while i was gone...

While it was sitting idling in my driveway, everything sounded fine...

smooth idle, rad. fan came on enough... temp gauge in normal position...

no warning signs...

At the gas station, i thought to fill her up with fresh gas.

A FULL and i mean FULL tank of 93 in a few minutes should do the trick...

but when i started out of the gas station, it started to sputter on me... then stalled... so i pulled into a little parking lot to rest and think.

It wasn't anything obvious under the hood, so i started it up again, and let it try and idle on it's own...

...i had to keep my foot sort of on the gas to rev it up higher or else it would stall... but after 5 minutes it caught and started running normal again...

i figured that there was shit in the gas tank that i stirred up, by filling it up... i thought possible water contamination...

it was well enough after that little incident to drive me all over town though... boost was nice and in the red... everything was working very well...

brakes were stinky... cause the rotors were rusty... but i took it easy for a while until they sort of broke back in...

antilock light was on... could be rusty sensor...

anyways...

drove for the better part of an hour, then parked it at a friends for maybe 2 hours...

and when i started it again... it did the lumpy lumpy idle thing again, and only got me a block before it died...

i thought it might fix itself again, but it hasn't.

Check engine light comes on periodically trying to start it and letting it lumpy idle...

i bought a can of fuel system cleaner that claims to remove water and help keep gas clean... and put it in to let it sit overnight...

to try again tomorrow morning...

dirty fuel filter?

clogged fuel pump?

intermittent DI cassette???

fouled plugs? (should have looked, lazy though)

any advice appretiated...

sorry for the long "welcome back" story...
