Wheel Repairs Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Spacers and Wheels, could they cause problems?, Ron, Wed, 12 Jul 2006 16:54:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Before going any further, are you sure that it's the wheels and not the tires causing the problems? Spun them and checked for runout of more than +/-0.5 mm (or whatever the spec is)? OK, I had to ask.
If you already have Aero wheels and like them, then repair is probably a good way to go - perhaps you can get a discount for three - unless you can find good used ones for significantly less (they probably will not be as nice as newly refinished wheels). I don't know where you live, but there are places that repair alloy wheels all over the country - this is not an uncommon problem. I have never been a customer but have seen the work that comes out of one of these shops and they can restore a wheel to "like new" quality, including gouges out of the rim, bent lips, wobbles, etc. You may want to ask for local recommendations by posting in this forum or the "General" forum.
If this $300 - 400 issue is the biggest disappointment in your "new" 10+ year old car, you are not doing too bad.
