I like the 5 spd. First gear is very low, so you don't have to slip the clutch very much to get going, and , in stop and go traffic, the low first allows me Ime to drive in first with my foot completely off the clutch, all of which saves on clutch wear.
The rest of the gears are closely spaced making for very sporty driving and always having the right gear.
The shifter is not vague, clutch engagement point is always the same and very progressive. Its as good as the 944 Porsche I had.
But then I can drive almost any stick since I used to have an Alfa Romeo GTV-6 which, like all Alfa's, comes from the factory with synchros that last approximately ten minutes. I had to learn to double clutch downshift (like shifting a semi)or I could not downshift at all from 3rd to 2nd.
