I have not posted on here for about a year but I have a question on the cost of a fuel pump. I have a 1994 9000 CSE automatic (if that matters).
My car has sudden lose of power as if it is not getting gas. This happens after driving it for about 30-45 minutes. The first time it happened I had been in stop/go traffic for about 30 minutes in 90+ degree weather and was just under a qtr tank of gas. I was waiting at the light and noticed the car was idleing real strange and low as if it was going to die out. Once the light changed I was able to drive it through the intersection but only at about 5 mph. Pressing on the gas made no difference. I pulled over and let it cool down for about 10 minutes. I then drove it with no stops for about another 5 minutes and made it home. The 2nd time it happened I was driving again for about 30 minutes and it just lost power and slowed down, I didn’t pull over this time I just kept driving and it got back some power after maybe 2 minutes and I made it to work about a mile away. 3rd time was the same as the 1st time except while waiting at the light the car did not idle low it just had no power when it took off, thi time I pulled over and waited 5-10 minutes. I was also low on gas this time.
Mechanic changed the fuel filter but that didn’t make a difference, he is not thinking it is the fuel pump. Any idea’s out there?? How much $$$$ for a fuel pump???
