Ardent-
I have lived in the dusty southwest my entire life. I currently live in Phoenix where it is not only hot but dusty too. The best lubricant I have used on my Sonett and 9K is bicycle chain lube. The actual stuff is ATB chain lube which stand for Absolutely The Best. I actually got it from my buddy when I bought his bicycle while I was in school. It is very thin--like water-- and has the color of red vinegar. It supposedly has alcohol in it which evaporates quickly and leaves behind a thin coating of oil. So far the antennas have remained well lubed, fully functional and I don't have much dirt build up on it and I listen to the radio daily. I think it is good stuff and I'll use it again when I need it.
