Thanks for all the info folks !
It seems as if it is confirmed that some parts of the ABS system
are indeed prone to overheating, and that is good to know.
Since it only seems to happen in extreme heat and stop&go/slow
moving traffic it will be easy enough for me to avoid that kind
of driving where I live by staying local on the nasty hot days,
which I didn't on Friday.
Getting on the interstate at 6:30 Friday evening seems to me to
be the actual problem here - my thinking was in error because I
genuinely thought that by 6:30PM the traffic in the construction
area would have thinned - my mistake !
The scary part of the warning lights was the thought that maybe
it was possible, despite having normal brake and clutch action
that my car had actually somehow lost enough brake fluid for a
warning like that to be real !
All this leads me to wonder....
What happens if a person just pulls all the ABS fuses and then
just drives on for a while allowing some time for the system
components to cool while not powered ?
Has anyone here somehow successfully 'turned off' ABS without
any bad results ?
Thanks again folks !
