Doesn't sound like TCS Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: TCS symptoms without TCS light?, adamK, Thu, 7 Sep 2006 05:55:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
TCS should not impact starting whatsoever.
You finally got the car running. I assume you bought the car not running, so the history of how it stopped running is lost to the ages. Or at least the previous owner knows, and that isn't to be trusted. So it's safe to assume the car ran like crap or not at all before you got it.
I would ignore TCS and any damage you did. Start from scratch.
What to the spark plugs look like? Do they look nice, or do they look like they've been chewed by rats and then covered in soot? Put in known good or new plugs. Make sure all airways are clear, and that the air filter isn't (1) clogged and (2) put in backwards. If you pull the plugs right after an unsuccessful start, do you smell gas? Do you know there is fuel getting to the cylinders? What is the state of the fuel filter.
Air fuel spark. Make sure the spark plugs are good. Make sure air can get to where it needs to get to, that mice haven't taken up residence in the intake. Make sure it's getting fuel.
Remember, that pedal on the floor isn't a gas pedal. It's an air pedal. It lets in more or less air. The fuel control measures that air and decides on how much fuel to provide. So if air isn't getting in, or the air isn't being measured right (bad AMM?), or fuel isn't flowing, no gas.
Any info you can provide about what was or wasn't working would be helpful.
