clutch master strangeness no more ! Posted by vtsnaab [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: clutch master, variable & intermittent - very strange !, vtsnaab ![]() ![]() |
OK - here's the bottom line:
Since the original clutch master was replaced with the Scantech
branded unit twice, and both obviously failed, it was suggested
to me that it was time to instead use a Lockheed branded unit,
which Eeuroparts shipped to me right away.
The 2nd defective Scantech clutch master came out with what
looks like lots of dissolved rubber in its captive fluid, and
the last day I drove with that one in it was not holding pressure
well at all.
Now, with the Lockheed unit in place my clutch action is not only
a full pedal's worth, but it is a lot firmer than it ever was with
the Scantech units.
My 2 cents of advice: Since there is no evidence to suggest a bad
batch of these Scantech clutch master cylinders with certainty, if
you need one anytime soon, just spend the extra $20 and get the
Lockheed replacement from Eeuroparts and save yourslef all the
trouble I went through !
Best Wishes,
