1985-1998 [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
Hello everyone,
This may seem like a stupid question, but i'd like to know if it's possible to convert my 1990 9kt M-92 alarm module system into my 1988 9kt.
I recently had a "break in" right in my driveway, where some kids went through all of the cars up and down my whole street that were unlocked, and ransacked them. They got my 40gb ipod...
Everyone woke up tht morning with a knock on the door from a policeman asking us to come out and document anything that was missing... all my neighbors were outside checking their cars too.
Everyones drivers doors were wide open... it was quite a scene...
My fault for leaving it unlocked, but our neighborhood has been "safe" for the 15+ years we've lived here... no vanadlism or anything... it was pretty disturbing, and now we all lock everything...
home owners will cover it, however there is a $250 deductible, and who knows if they'll put that towards a NEW ipod, they may try to replace with one of the same... plus i need the original receipt, and it's a 3rg gen, almost 4 years old... so... I may put that $250 towards the new 80gb ipod...
Anyways...
I love my new 88 airflow... but... i need an alarm.
I have pulled the glove box out before, and noticed that there is a "saab guard" connector harness available, right under the relay and fuse bundle.
I pulled a junk saab guard system out of an old 87 9kt recently, but after reading about the issues with it, i've decided not to even waste the time i put it in. Mainly, i do not like the fact that you have to turn the key to "ON" 10-20 seconds after you open a door... NO THANKS... :) I'm in and out of my car all the time, that would be horrible...
In my 1990, there is alo a harness... with a module... behind the glove box... but the connector is different. It has many more pins on it, and it more like the connector to the back of the ACC units than the saab guard connector, which is like the stock radio harnesses.
I have owned my 1990 with a fully functioning alarm system for almost 5 years now, and it's just perfect for what i need.
Just something that will go off and make noise when someone gets into it.
I don't care for remote starting / remote entry / or anything fancy like that... although if someone could tell me step for step how to do it i would consider it...
I know you'd have to put a power motor in the driver door lock... unless you can combine the switch and the motor into one unit...
Anyways, the module i have on my 1990 says M-92 on it, and there was a small section on it in my owners manual... pasted into the manual i might add...
if the pinouts on the module are almost the same as the saab guard i'd be willing to make a conversion connector harness, using my junked saab guard harness and the old harness from the 90...
I just need the pinouts... thanks in advance...
