... with my own 1990.
Mine turned out to be a combination between the A.I.C. (automatic idle control) valve, and the turbo bypass valve.
The aic is the large silver canister, mounted sideways on top of the intake manifold with two large vacuum hoses coming out of it. They need cleaning or replaceing sometimes... do a search on that on here, there is tons of info on it.
The bypass valve lets air coming out of your turbo recirculate through the intake system when you let off the gas... and basically, if it's leaking, by not being securely connected, or punctured / mafunctioning... it could be causing your problem.
Now... the reason we were stalling at stop signs and corners is because....
The aic helps control your engine speed... mainly when you are using your air conditioner...
it raises the idle speed when your air compressor is spinning... so your engine can deal with the extra load on from having to spin the compressor.
Try hitting "econ" or "off" on the acc and see if it still stalls. IF it does, then you definately need a new AIC, and check the bypass valve too.
IF it does not stall anymore, you just need a new AIC.
The bypass valve is $20 new... and the AIC is probably $20 used in a junkyard. Maybe $50 for a really nice one online.
you can clean them with brake cleaner, but mine was stuck on the inside. You'll learn more about this when you read about it.
If neither one of those things have been changed since 1990, it's definately time now... for how cheap they are, i would change them anyways, and have the peace of mind.
Let me know what happenes
