I have a 1995 9000CS and last winter I experienced the same problem with my Saab. The fuel pump motor would work if I tapped it but that is not reliable. I took the pump apart, damaging it of course, and discovered that the brushes to the motor left too much built up of carbon. A new genuine pump is around $540.00 so I pulled one out of a 1994 Saab 900 at my local junk yard and paid $70.00. You can disconnect the return fuel line from the motor to confirm that the engine is not getting fuel due to a faulty fuel pump. What year and model is your Saab?
