pressure/vacuum....primary/secondary, and so on... Posted by vtsnaab [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Ran out of gas/but didn't really run out - ideas ?, KevinM, Sat, 7 Oct 2006 17:42:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi Guys.
I am quite certain what I heard and felt was air being sucked in, not
only because that is what my ears heard and my hand felt, but because
if it had been a pressure release I would have immediately smelled
gas fumes and I did not at that time at all.
It also makes sense that if it was a vacuum that the pump would have
lost its ability to suck gas out of the tank until it was released.
My fuel tank was replaced with the exact same one several months ago
and at that time I saw the fuel pump, and did not observe anything
that looked like a primary and secondary arrangement, but maybe I did
not know what it looks like anyhow.
My car is a '91 9KT with the 2.3l and DI.
It also seems that since this incident my mileage has plunged, but the
engine is running fine ???
The evening that my vacuum incident happened was the first time it got
fairly chilly here, and the temp had dropped to around 40f from a day
time high of around 72 that day, and it did go a wee bit below freezing
later that night as well.
A while back my indie suggested that my car may need the fuel check
valve at the tank replaced - could this be related ?
Thanks, and keep those ides coming.....please !?
