Urgent problem - electric system '96 9000 Help!

Hope I can get some quick help!

I recently had a new indicator and light dimmer component installed (well, not new, but from a Saab parts dealer). This was about a week ago.

I tried to put gas in the tank this evening but could not open the gas cap, likewise the light does not work in the car and the back doors will not unlock. Cannot get the doors to unlock even with the inside lock and unlock button located between the two front seats.

Also, there is a strange whirring noise coming from the box that is located under the air bag on the passenger side, where the fuses(?)are. I am taking the car to the garage in the morning, but would really like to know if there is some way to get the gas cap to open from inside the car as am on reserve tank now and am afraid that I won't even make it that far.

When they put on the new component on the steering column, could all of this that has gone wrong happened then?
