Can aero manual ECU be tricked to work with automatic?

Hello fellow saab enthusiasts!
I am proud owner of a 96 9000 CSE with FPT and an automatic. Now I have a local yard lined up ready to ship me a mitsu TD04 and an aero manual ECU so I can get my extra 25hp/20ft-lbs and bring me up to full factory specs. However, I have been told that there is a pin running to the ECU that informs it that it is running on an automatic and causes it to revert to non-aero spec. I have also heard that pulling the number 9 fuse does something to make the computer think it is a manual. Fuse 9 is the rear windows/sunroof so that didnt make sense to me...
Now I am aware of the frailties of the autopmatic but I wish to forge ahead and do this anyway. I have a spare ZF sitting by which I am rebuilding right now. The current one is in fabulous shape and has a fresh batch of synthetic fluid in it. So I have the auto covered and I dont want to spare the torque!
Has anyone been able to trick the ecu with wire cutting?
Thanks for your replies!
Pete =)
