9-5 much quieter, but suspension is squishy as hell.

99 9-5se i have in my family handles much worse than my 91 9kt. Comparable tires on both, the body roll is awful on the 9-5. Hell, the frame can be as rigid as it wants, if the suspension is not set up properly it does not really matter.

Your mechanic is the man. He took a presumed transmission failure by yourself and turned you into a used car customer. I dont take my car to dealers as a rule, but when i have had to, I dont tell them anything in terms of presumptions. If you tell them you think the transmission is bad, it most likely will be when they call for the estimate.

99 9-5 will have more problems than you would have had with the 9000. The 9000 was the "devil you know" you know what you have replaced. The 9-5 with 120k will likely cost you $$$$ interms of replacing wear items. YOu will have alternators fail, starters go, CLUTCH replacement, etc etc etc.

This is the main reason my father bought a 94 9000 aero, for $9500 instead of a newer 9-5 for the same price. The 9000's are a much better car.

If you did not see my other thread, please have the mechanic remove and clean the oil pickup screen, as there is a fine screen that would get clogged. Then run only a good quality synthetic oil in the car, I have seen a car with as little as 67k on it lose a motor due to oiling problems. it was the same 99 9-5 I have access to, turbo went around 60k, we replaced that, and 7k later the motor was toast. Saab ended up splitting costs of repairs, 1/3 saab, 1/3 dealer, and 1/3 customer. I believe there was also a retro fit kit involved with the oiling issue.

IDK, I will be driving 9000's and og 900's till I cannot find them anymore. Because I drive my cars and abuse them, I cannot see the NG/GM saabs making 300k miles.
