...you find the tie rod ends are not willing to turn on their threads. If they've been there long enough, they may well be pretty much locked in place, requiring a good torch to set free.

If you find this to be the case, you should be prepared to stop your attempts earlier rather than later, so that you can put the car back together and drive it to a shop, who can then do your alignment for you when the new ends are in. Otherwise, I worry that if you try to force things, you won't be able to drive to a shop, negating your DIY savings.

It should be pretty obvious if these things are stuck or not, and if they're not stuck, it's a very simple procedure.
