In a very few cases, I have seen the rear engine cover leaking.
Back then in 88 it was still a paper gasket between cover and engine block and if the bolts has come loose, a piece of the gasket might be missing.
Today, Saab only use anearobic sealant instead of the gasket and that is just about fool proof if done correctly.
