They start to seize up or get sticky and that overloads the actuators which then leads to their demise. It usually gives some warning. One or more locks will start to lock/unlock slowly.

At this point, it makes the most sense to check all of them. The rears are easy to do with the door panels on. Spray WD40 (with the tube attachment) into the child lock latch and pull on the lock manually until it frees up. The fronts you have take off the door panels to lubricate the door latches. Once you are in there, check the fasteners for the electric window and grease the window rail.
