this is acctually a very easy repair, not at all difficult if you can work a jack and do a brake job. but it is messy. I replaced my whole axle in less then a hr so maybe figure 1-2 hrs to replace the boot since you need to clean the CV. you will need a large axle nut socket, I think it is a 22 or 23mm but I don't recall, just pop off the hub cab and remove the axle nut, then jack up the car, remove the wheel and the lower ball joint, I think you need to remove the swaybar link also, but basically use a screw driver to pop off the inner boot clamp and you need to lightly tap the axle out of the bearing hub assembly, so you need enough room to swing the whole assembly out of the way, once the inner boot is off just pull the assembly out so the whole axle comes out of the inner driver then pull or tab the axle out of the bearing assembly. now with the axle off, remove the C-Clip holding on the bearing and remove it (inner side) slide the outter boot off the axle. take the assembly inside and clean the CV best you can, i would recomend using some kerosine to clean it well and then repack with grease, replace the boot and also repack the inner. some recomend removeing the outter CV and not the whole axle but I find this much simpler since the inner comes out very easily. the hardest part is getting the clamps back on, but if you can't get the originals back on you can use the large ZIP Ties, in either 3/8 or 1/2 wide.
