rated amperage, not relays. A relay is just a switch, remotely controlled and has a much higher rating so the contacts don't melt from the electric arc they produce when switching. If anything, excessive switching will cause a relay to fail. Before drawing the conclusion that the pump is causing relays to blow, consider this. Have you opened both relays to see how they failed and if they failed in a similar/same manner? Also, you said you used the relay from the windshield wiper circuit (which has a timing circuit in it) which itself is subject to wear and tear. You may want to double check that you replaced the FP relay with a good (correct) relay. HTH
