gas can stink for weeks Posted by KenManiac [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: How far down does Fuel Ring go after replacing Pump?, Richard Chang, Fri, 2 Feb 2007 14:58:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
i had a fuel fitting blow out of my pump top 3 days after i bought my 9000. it dumped at least a gallon on top of the tank. some got in and wet the carpet (melted a plastic object i had on the floor) but didn't feel wet. the smell was bad for at least 2 weeks if i left the car closed up. fortunately, it was august, which helped get the smell out. as did leaving a bag of charcoal in the back (and putting some around the top of the tank).
make sure the plastic piece is seated properly in the top of the tank. fill the tank ans go for a spirited drive. if it doesn't smell more after that, you're probably OK.
