Re: FPR read 2.9 bar at idle, do I need a new FPR ? Posted by Gene N [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: FPR read 2.9 bar at idle, do I need a new FPR ?, Pat98, Sun, 4 Feb 2007 08:03:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Actually, 2.9 doesn't sound bad for idle. A negative pressure of 0.1 Bar works out to 3 inches of Hg. The offset in fuel pressure is 1:1, that is at a base boost of 0.45 Bar the correct fuel pressure would be 3.45. At full boost of, say 0.9 Bar, the fuel pressure would be 3.9 Bar.
I had a bad FPR that was keeping the fuel pressure too high, and the symptoms I had were: black plugs, low gas mileage, lots of carbon in the exhaust pipe, check engine light, and interestingly, great boost. Apparently the rich mixture kept detonation in check, so the needle would go to tend of the red.
Your symptoms seem to be more like spark related, like a bad DI.
