Like others have said"is she really getting hot" or is the temp guage just pinning to hot.I had a situation occur on my '93 Aero where the temp guage would suddenly peg at hot and the first time it happened I sat in a parking lot for 2 hours and she would still pin to hot every time I turned the key.I would feel the motor and it would be cooling down and there was never any boil over of coolant.I drove home comfortable with the deduction that tha temp guage was the culprit.Simultanously the fuel guage started reading incorrectly also.I took the dash top off and felt behind the guages and the connector had become half disconnected.Re-plugged it in and problem solved.
Seems like you just spent a ton of money but try not to get frustrated and don't lose hope or faith in your Aero.
I don't understand about "the first time it happened the heater core blew up".Heater cores fail, but not due to overheating.Unless your heater core failed and caused a massive loss of coolant which then caused you to overheat.Which could then cause head warpage and head gasket failure.
Maybe we need a clearer picture of what you have going on.Let us know.
