Well Bill, that's a mighty sweet ride you have there. Why did you use Alloy wheel cleaner on paint?Too late now though,I guess.
I have been investigating having my '93 Aero wheels refinished. As you probably know they are the polished lip style.Well I took some paint remover to the painted portion and it did remove some of the paint but not enough and more so made a mess of the painted finish. The painted finish on these wheels is very tough. If you haven't made too much of a mess of your wheels and maybe it's only one wheel,I would try to bondo the spot and then prime and re-paint.If they are ruined then you will have to have them blasted but not with sand.It will have to be sodium bicarbonate or plastic. You are lucky you don't have the polished lip as that adds another difficult dimension. That has to be put on a lathe and cut down below the corroded material to fresh shiny material and then clear coated.
After your wheels are stripped you could consider powder coating as that is more durable than paint I believe.
I've refinished center caps by bringing one in to Wal-mart and matching it to the cap of a Dupli-color can.Good luck.
