Hi Donald - I used to have the "proper" Aero wheels like yours, they came with an earlier car but they were in poor condition and I traded them for the 3-spoke Aeros which, heretically, I prefer anyway!
The cleaner I used was called "Wonder Wheels" and it's supposed to be OK for painted wheels, but there you go, I think I left it on too long before neutralising it. It's two wheels, and I have a spare, but one of the wheels is a slightly different finish anyway (one second-hand and four new) to there is some variation and I might as well do the whole lot.
Thanks for all the useful tips. I think if I do this I will go for powder coating: I have some guys I used for furniture components. Only thing is whether the range of colours is limited.
