Of course the label will read 'improves performance, mileage, emissions, cleans injectors, reduces hair loss, brightens teeth, and makes your Significant Other smile'.

That's because all the products that list in big letters 'Total Waste of Money' don't sell well and are then mysteriously discontinued.

And of course it's the super concentrated formula. The 'regular' formula is called gasoline.

The Saab engine control limits knock automatically. If you are using really bad gasoline, the engine might knock, but for the price of most gas additives, it's cheaper to pay for a higher grade of fuel.

The turbo engine will reduce boost if it detects knock, but it doesn't increase boost past its normal limit if it doesn't detect knock. So if the APC isn't reducing boost on your car on say, 89 octane, then running 100 octane won't produce any more power.

Most decent grades of the larger name brand gasolines contain cleaners. Yes, running no-name gas can build up deposits.

I wouldn't add an octane booster. If the engine control is reducing power to prevent knock, (1) make sure the engine is tuned up, and (2) run a higher octane fuel. It'll be cheaper and better for your engine. If your engine isn't reducing power to prevent knock, there is no need to pay for a higher octane rating - it's a waste of money.

As to cleaners, once or twice a year I'll run a bottle of Techron in a tank. Does it help? Not clear. It doesn't hurt, and it isn't that expensive. Maybe it's a buck more than Uncle Joe's Super Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner and Barbecue Sauce. For the $1 to $2 a year, I'll stick with a known quantity.
