I didn't really notice this part of your message:
"With a 'Good' battery in a 9000 it should turn over the engine fast enough so the tach needle will twitch on a start."
Unfortunately, this is my precise point. The above quoted statement is not always the true. Good battery or not. I'd give it to you if you said "USUALLY twitches on start."
I don't know -- maybe even the Saab repair manuals say the same (and I always believed it until it was proven not to be the case on several cars). And certainly I'd expect to see movement. I have no explanation why it doesn't show up in some cars.
I wouldn't keep up this argument, except that I'm trying to help, just as you say. I know you are too.
Can anyone find references in official Saab documentation to help us out???
Or, henceforth maybe we can agree to have people consider the bounce test but with small print attached?
Please don't take this as a mere "pissing match," stubbornness and so on. We're both after giving people good solid help here. I'm sure my initial message conveyed a certain attitude, but it was inintended, rest assured.
Godzillions of apologies all around for my role in a debate over such a tiny matter! I promise to say no more on it.
