1998 CSE-strange starting problem (long)

Fellow Saabers,
Please advise. I have a 1998 CSE with 144k, auto. Car runs well, with one year old DI and plugs and no starting problems.
Today, when I came out of the grocery store, I turned the key to start, and the gauges didn't move and no idiot lights on the dash came on. The car cranked strong, but wouldn't start. I turned the key off and waited a minute or so, and when I turned the key, the gauges and lights activated and the car started. It ran rough for 15 seconds or so and then acted normally.
I then dropped my brother off about a half mile away, and the car stalled in front of his place. When I tried to restart, it did the same thing with the idiot lights and gauges, and just cranked. I waited for a minute or so, then it started normally. Again, it ran rough for a few seconds and then smoothed out. I then drove home which is about 5 or 6 miles and it was fine all the way home.
When I drove home, I was getting 13.8 volts on the dashboard readout.
Where should I start in trying to track this down?
Thanks,
Rob
