... because this is a 1987 9000 turbo, so I guess I will see if my brother-in-law has an old throttle body. Actually I know he does as I pulled it off of his fathers old 9000s. I may also have one from an old C900, and they look compatible.
Also, I was wondering why I still had smoke after running the engine for a long time. I usually do head gaskets on cars that are losing rad fluid into the head. This is my first oil leak. Then I hope I got my answer.
Apparently the prior owner used the car forever when it had the oil leak. When I stuck my finger into the exhaust, it came out black and coated with soot and oil. Another tip that this is most likely crap in the exhaust system is that when the car is cold there is no smoke at idle or for about 60 seconds at 3500RPM. When the car is run at 3500 RPM for a while the exhaust heats up the pipes and thick smoke comes out that continues at idle. Let the car cool and only clear exhaust again until the pipes warm up.
I guess there will be no immediate inspection for this car. I also bet it will need a catalytic converter.
I am having a mild idle problem, so I will use carb cleaner to wash out the idle control device and the AMM. I will also replace the air filter.
Does anyone know if Eeuroparts sells the low temp (82C degrees) thermostat and radiator actuator. Their site just lists a thermostat without specifications.
All complaining aside, the engine is super quite without even getting a new chain tensioner. Even more amazing is it is the old style tensioner that Saab recalled. (Yeah, I will replace it, but I am psyched at how quiet this car is. It is the quietest Saab engine I have ever owned.)
Thanks everyone for all the help in the way of answers. It was all invaluable.
