You are correct the high pressure hose is between the pump and the rack. But it is not completely hard line. There are aluminum hard fittings (or was it steel I don't remember) on either end. But the center portion is definitely high pressure rubber hose. I had one replaced on my 94cde. The hose is expensive. I brought the leaky hose to a local hydraulic shop to have the hose replaced. They kept the hard fitings, or the majority of the fittings and made a new line for me for $40. That was three years ago.
