Hi Folks.
My '91 9KT has some blistery spots I'd like to deal with now that the
warmer weather is upon us and it would be great to hear what worked
best for the folks here in treating rust to stop it.
I am not a bondo fan and my biggest concern is stopping the rust, not
making the car super pretty - longevity appeals more to me than looks !
Someone gave me a bottle of 'rust mort' and it is supposed to convert
the rust but when I used it, it got rained on before I could coat it
and I was very much less than impressed when the rust came right back;
I bought a truck that had rust which is now all covered/fixed with the
black POR-15 coating and it is pretty impressive, if pricey and more
than a bit confusing as to whether more than their paint is needed to
make the repair.
I have been reading about a bunch of things: Picklex-20, Ospho, Must-
for-Rust, and Zero Rust - and frankly it seems like too much verbiage
but not enough 'meat' to sink one's teeth into, and this is why I am
asking the folks here, in hopes of some good, solid info from folks'
own real experiences over time.
