I have the problems with my 1995 Aero 5sp down to one left - the outside air temperature. If the car is turned off for more than an hour or so, when I restart it the outside air temp shows -40 F, then gradually warms up to about 25 degrees lower than what the actual outside air temp is. If I only turn the car off for 15 minutes or so, when I restart it the reading shows what it was when I turned the car off. I bought a used sensor on ebay but that did not fix the problem at all - still the same symptoms. This is very annoying because for the 1st 10 minutes or so, the heat is on full blast, even on an 80 degree day. After a little while the cabin air temp sensor takes over and the AC comes on, but I would still like to have it fixed. Anybody know what I should try next?
On a happier note, the rest of my lengthly list of problems all now seem to be fixed. First I was having the typical TCS limp home mode problems, remedied by new TCS valves - the two on the false firewall. After that was fixed my car was still going into limp home mode occasionally, mostly when accellerating or decellerating. This was fixed with a new Throttle body. Shortly after that my car started reving very irradically when it was cold and unexpectedly surging. I ordered a new MAP sensor, but while I was waiting for it my battery finally called it quits, so both the MAP sensor & battery where replaced at the same time. I am not sure which one fixed the problem, but one of them did because it no longer is a problem. I was also having problems with my alarm going off for no reason, but that no longer happens as well since the new battery. Lastly, I was having boost problems (only going to the red/yellow line on a stage 3 Aero). I am not sure what fixed this, but now it boosts all the way to the end of the red! The car screams. I am wondering if all of these problems were caused by the weak battery in the first place, but at this point I really don't care because everything, with the exception of the outside air sensor, is now working.
I am posting all of this information for the benefit of people doing future searches. While I was diagnosing these problems by searching past posts, I found alot of posts with the same problems but not many with what actually solved the problems. Maybe this info will help future 9000 owners.
Thanks for everybodies help! You guys saved me from getting rid of a still fantastic Aero. This board is the best, and is the reason I have owned 6 Saabs and plan to own many more.
