Electronic Display Unit Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Thu, 7 Jun 2007 05:43:42 In Reply to: EDU or ECU?, Tim O, Wed, 6 Jun 2007 21:44:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The EDU is the electronic display just below the speedo - it shows things like voltage, outside air temp, miles to empty, check engine, etc. Yes, you're thinking ECU (Engine Control Unit) which is a totally different beastie.
The EDU is just a little circuit board that sits behind the instrument cluster. It isn't Aero specific - just transmission specific. And even if you stuck an EDU from an automatic in, it wouldn't be a disaster - it would just lose the 5-speed specific functions, and gain a display of shifter position - which won't work. To access it, you need to remove the top of the dash. You can then gently lift up the instrument cluster slightly and access the circuit board. Note - on the bottom of the instrument cluster there are plastic posts with little rubber feet to cushion it. The feet like to fall off.
