Sean,

I have the same problem you had 6 years ago in my 93 9000...

Did you solve it? Battery is fine, but when i go to crank, everything goes dead, clock resets, etc., I wait, and try again, and car starts fine.

Just doing research on saabnet...

"The car is a 1993 9000 Aero with 182K. Yesterday I went to start the Aero and the motor cranked for 2 seconds (normal sounding speed) then there was a click and all power was drained out of the battery. The trip computer was reset as was the radio reset. The power came back slowly but the battery was too weak to power up anything but the interior lights. I had the car jumpstarted and drove 120 miles home. When I got home the car restarted once but them would not again. I placed a battery charger on it and it fully charged the battery. I attempted to start and it again but the battery was sucked down to almost zero charge with one attempt. I then replaced the battery with a known good one. This started the care for 2x (normal sounding and running) and then resumed just the "click" under the hood and the draining of the power. This battery is able to recover though and within 4 seconds there is enough power to attempt another start.

The battery is putting out 12.1 volts and is able to run all lights and accessories with no problems but as soon as you try to start the car the car "clicks" and saps the battery enough momentarily to reset the above-mentioned items. This happens every time now. I have cleaned the cables but still need to check all the grounds. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. My thinking is that if it were a bad ground it would not sap the battery so much. Also there is no hint of the started actually trying to engage but rather just a “click”. Thanks to anyone who may be able to point me in the right direction.

Sean "
