Car died, new fuel pump installed in 2.5hrs

My '95CSE sputtered to a stop this am. I tried back up DI, no go. Could not hear fuel pump running. Got the car towed home, and had a new fuel pump installed and running in 2.5hrs. Including lunch.
Last time I think it took me 2.5 days, most of that spent on removing the retaining ring. Also used the complete new cartridge at $400 from eEuro. This time I just replaced the motor for $70.
I had all of the parts, and was thinking about replacing the pump as proactive maint. Somehow, I've had plenty of reactive stuff to do. Anyway, all was very smooth. I built the pvc joint removal tool for the retaining ring. Had to saw off one side to fit into the opening. Worked great.
I was able to cut the hose on the old pump at the first of three bumps. Before cutting the hose off with my pocket knife, I attached a brake line clamp about 1/2" up the hose. The new motor slipped on with ease. I kept moving the clamp back as the nipple slid up the hose, until all three humps were covered. Very slick, no heat, no problem. Saved myself $300+.
Can you tell I'm pleased all went well?? I'm as surprised as anyone! Just nice to have a running car again. Going to do the filter soon, because of crud I likely stirred up in the tank. This is a doable project, with no extra hoses, and very straightforward. But do be careful at all steps. And read all those old posts about how to do each step.
