Thanks Mr. Davies for responding, I, and I'm sure many others, have enjoyed your posts and appreciate your contribution to this board.
My last 9000 was a '91 turbo 5 speed(never modified)which I had for 4 years, my current 9000 is a '98 auto. With fuse 9 pulled(yes, I know that trick), even with the extra 250 lb., it feels about as quick as the '91, it just picks up speed with more grace and serenity, that said, I miss the explosive power(especially 2nd and 3rd)of the '91 every now and then.
I have a feeling when I decide to dive into the performance modifications pool I'll end up going full-bore, intake, exhust, ECU, etc.(as much as the slushbox. can handle), and I agree with you that chassis and brake upgrades are just as important, more power means one can get into trouble quicker, so extra measure of control is definitely required.
In your reply, you mentioned tending to and re-adjust base boost, I'm just assuming, but is that how the stock ECU limit power in auto. equipped 9ks? If that is the case, why should any hardware upgrades contribute to increasing power? I guess my real question is which upgrade provide the most improvement for the money, hardware or software? Can/should one exist without the other?
You also spoke of a Forge valve, is that the same BOV that I could get from Taliaferro Imports and what does it cost? Does it make the ker-chING sound each time during lift throttle and gear change? I like the POP-PEW-PEw-Pew-peew sound the WRC cars make.
I do not have the funds yet to embark on a performance mod. journey, just exploring the possibilities, but your opinions have reinforced some of my beliefs and will help me make some decisions in the future, THANKS!
