A few questions-
I assume that (1) if you turn the key to ON but don't start the car, the ALT light comes on (it should).
(2) Once the engine starts and runs, the ALT light goes out. (it should).
Next - what is the voltage on the EDU, once the car starts moving? It should be at least 13.0 volts.
Here's the next one - start the car, and blip the throttle once just to make sure the alternator 'boots up.' Take a voltmeter, and measure across the batter POSTS. It should be 13.0 or more volts - at least on the level of the EDU, plus or minus 0.4 volts (The EDU isn't very exact).
Next, measure the voltage between the negative battery POST and a good ground (engine running). It should read less than 0.1 volts. If not, you've got a bad connection from the battery to chassis. Measure from the post to the clamp -if that's more than 0.1 volts, remove the clamp and clean the post/inside of the clamp.
For the positive post, also measure from post to clamp (0.1 v max). If you can measure the voltage across the positive battery cable, do so - again, no more than 0.1 volts, preferably much less.
So, what if you're seeing 13.5 volts on the battery, but it isn't charging? then the battery is bad.
