Some hoses have a metal spring in the to help strengthen them. My 9000t has always ran 3/4 on the temp. gauge. Hoses do get old and swell! Antifreeze does lose some of its protection when it gets old. Its not just for freeze protection only. The way its sometime advertised is Summer coolant/ Freeze protection. IF the antifreeze is over three years old, change it and also add "Barsleaks" to the mix for water pump, radiator, heater core, engine block extra protection. If your not sure what BARSLEAKS does, just check -out their Web site at "http://www.barsleaks.com. I use this stuff in all my cars and haven't change anything but the water pumps. Water pumps just have a certain life expectancy.
