Depends on your problem. If it is a no-start, you can crank the engine then stop. Leave the ignition on, and you should hear the DI going through its cleaning cycle. It depends on the year as to how long the DI zaps the plugs and when it occurs, but all the systems have it. If you hear the cleaning cycle, then at least you know the cassette is working. The next test is to remove the cassette, but leave it connected to the harness. Put 4 plugs into the cassette, and ground all the plugs. The last step is VERY important. Failure to ground the plugs can contribute to cassette failure. With the spark plugs grounded, crank the engine and you should see the plugs sparking.
If your problem is that the engine runs, but poorly under certain conditions, then you will have to trace it down. Poor performance under boost can be plugs or a DI coil arcing. Poor cold or hot running can be a fuel injection problem, etc.
